From September 1 to 3, local time, the 2025 MIP Africa was held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre in South Africa, attracting nearly 2,000 industry professionals. As a key member of the "China Joint Pavilion," Zoland Animation brought a selection of outstanding works to this annual industry event. On the afternoon of September 1, the company made a brilliant appearance at the "Visions of China – Into Africa" program showcase, presenting the unique charm and innovative strength of Chinese animation to the global market.
At the "Visions of China – Into Africa" showcase, Zoland Animation, together with several other leading Chinese audiovisual institutions, presented a selection of high-quality Chinese audiovisual content with international vision and Chinese characteristics to mainstream African media, buyers, and industry experts. The session shared the achievements of China's audiovisual development and strengthened cooperation and exchanges between Chinese and African audiovisual organizations.
Samantha WONG, Director of Zoland Animation's International Department, delivered a keynote speech, in which she reviewed the long-term collaboration between the company and African mainstream media including South Africa's ETV. She emphasized that Zoland Animation attaches great importance to the African market, particularly its commitment to deepening its presence in the Sub-Saharan Africa region. "We are full of confidence in future cooperation," she said.
WONG spotlighted the company's new work Legendary Su Dongpo, a production that integrates traditional Chinese culture with innovative technologies and extensively applies cutting-edge AIGC tools throughout the production process – which sparked strong interest among the attendees. She also shared Zoland Animation's strategic layout of developing diverse derivative products and building a cultural and creative ecosystem built around original IPs.
During the exhibition, Zoland Animation held scheduled meetings with numerous international buyers and partners. The company's featured original and represented works, including Legendary Su Dongpo and The Return of Magic Eye, drew significant attention from buyers in Africa and beyond. Through this event, Zoland Animation not only established more connections with media organizations from multiple African countries, including South Africa, Botswana, Mauritius, Nigeria, and Tanzania, but also engaged in in-depth discussions with distributors from India, France, the United Arab Emirates, and others – laying a solid foundation for further expansion into the African market.
This trip to South Africa marks an important step for Zoland Animation in leveraging the development and operation of the National Cultural Export Base - Zhejiang Digital Culture International Cooperation Zone, continuing to deepen international cultural exchanges and cooperation, and promoting the global reach of outstanding Chinese culture. A company representative noted that Africa is one of the world's most promising emerging media markets, and that Zoland Animation will continue to uphold its commitment to content innovation and meticulous craftsmanship, bringing more excellent animated works that embody the spirit and values of China to the world stage.
It is also reported that this year's "China Joint Pavilion" at MIP AFRICA, along with its related side events, was organized under the guidance of the State Council Information Office and the National Radio and Television Administration, with Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation's Jiangsu Broadcasting International Communication Co., Ltd. taking the lead. Seven organizations participated in the pavilion: Zoland Animation, Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation, Zhejiang Huace Film & TV Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Straw Bear Film Co., Ltd., Suzhou Pegasus Liangzi Film Co., Ltd., Together Shine (Hangzhou) Cultural Technology Co., Ltd., and Zhejiang University of Media and Communications.
