The 2024 MIPCOM (Cannes International Content Market) was held from October 21 to 24. Under the guidance of the State Council Information Office and the National Radio and Television Administration, the "China Joint Pavilion" once again made its appearance at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, presenting a series of themed events under the banner "Focus on China, Infinite Stories." Zoland Animation, bringing its original works including the Magic Eye series, Legendary Su Dongpo, Legend of King Qian, and represented animation IPs, made its 20th consecutive appearance at this world's largest content market, once again earning widespread international attention and recognition.
MIPCOM is one of the world's largest markets for audiovisual products and digital content. This year's event brought together over 1,500 leading distribution and production companies from more than 110 countries and regions, presenting a wide range of content across television series, animation, documentaries, variety shows, and more – available for international buyers to acquire or invest in. The China Joint Pavilion, with a total area of 258 square meters, featured more than 30 outstanding Chinese audiovisual content production, distribution, and broadcasting organizations, showcasing a total of 179 works.
As a national key cultural export enterprise and the operating entity of the National Cultural Export Base – Zhejiang Digital Culture International Cooperation Zone, Zoland Animation, leveraging its sophisticated animation production technology, strong original animation library, and years of channel operation experience, attracted over 60 business meetings and in-depth exchanges with multiple companies from 21 countries at this year's MIPCOM – including France, the UK, the Netherlands, Italy, Argentina, India, the UAE, Kazakhstan, Singapore, Malaysia, and Nigeria – continuously advancing international trade and cooperation in animated and digital audiovisual content.
On-site, international buyers expressed interest in Zoland Animation's original works including Magic Eye Is Back, Rubi, Legendary Su Dongpo, Legend of King Qian, Beast Invaders, The Configurators, as well as represented titles such as Yeloli, Doggy Adventure, and Transform Alliance. A Spanish buyer who had previously acquired the three Rubi series — Making Progress Day By Day, Animals and Nature, and Underwater World — earlier this year; a Ukrainian client who had purchased 11 original Zoland titles including Bequi's Family and Dream Town; and a buyer sourcing 5–11 age content for a new children's channel launching in Pakistan in February 2025, all indicated that they would open their 2025 budgets to consider acquiring more animated and audiovisual content, and expressed strong interest in the titles from Thailand, the Philippines, and other countries available on the ZOLAND platform. Almaty TV in Kazakhstan also expressed procurement needs for Chinese animated titles and films. Buyers from Greece and Israel showed strong interest in works such as Beast Invaders, The Configurators, Transform Alliance, and Yeloli, and will further evaluate the titles and provide purchase budgets. A Russian distributor explored the possibilities of Russian dubbing and broadcast arrangements for Legendary Su Dongpo. The team also discussed multiple international co-production projects and plans with animation partners from the United States, Singapore, Turkey, and others, and held project advancement meetings with AUGUST MEDIA and FATFISH — partners signed during the China International Cartoon & Animation Festival — achieving positive outcomes.
