On April 10, local time, the 61st MIPTV (Marché International des Programmes de Télévision) officially came to a close at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France. With this, the more than 60-year history of MIPTV also drew to a graceful conclusion. During this event, Zoland Animation showcased dozens of outstanding Chinese animated and audiovisual productions at booth R7.E75 of the China Joint Pavilion, further expanding its international presence and presenting the unique charm of Chinese digital culture to the world. This also marks the 20th consecutive year that Zoland Animation has participated in the MIPTV in Cannes, France, since its first appearance in 2005.
During this edition of MIPTV, Zoland Animation presented a diverse lineup of classic original IPs including Magic Eye Is Back and Rubi, its new masterwork Legendary Su Dongpo, and a number of distributed titles such as My Name Is MT: Come Back, Transform Alliance 2, and Doggy Adventure, along with the documentary I Love Made in China and Chinese-language films Legend of Changsheng and The Grandmaster of Kungfu.
At a promotional event held at the China Joint Pavilion, Zoland Animation spotlighted Legendary Su Dongpo to the international market. The series has been designated as a key project under the National Radio and Television Administration's online animation support program and was the only work from Zhejiang Province to be selected in 2022. Notably, in 2000, the French newspaper Le Monde named Su Dongpo among its 12 "Heroes of the Millennium" (1001–2000) – the only Chinese figure to receive the honor. Many international buyers expressed curiosity about the series and gave positive feedback on its related merchandise.
During this year's MIPTV, Zoland Animation held business discussions and in-depth exchanges with companies from more than ten countries, including the United Kingdom, France, India, Monaco, Kazakhstan, Romania, Russia, and Chile. Notably, Zoland Animation signed a formal agreement with Russian distributor Anglet LLC for the distribution of Magic Eye Is Back in Russia. The series is expected to be dubbed into Tatar and aired on Shayan TV – the first Tatar-language children's and youth entertainment channel in Russia to broadcast via the internet. Meanwhile, representatives from the Gulli channel, which is part of the French media group M6, expressed strong interest in the Magic Eye Is Back and Rubi series. In addition, Movie Distribution LLP, a distribution company from Kazakhstan, also expressed interest in sourcing high-quality 3D animated content from Zoland Animation's extensive library for its clients in the Central Asian region.
Twenty years ago, Zoland Animation made its first trip to Cannes with trailers for Magic Eye and Magic Wonderland, and has continued to participate ever since. Over the past two decades, Zoland Animation has exported over 10,000 hours of original animation to more than 130 countries and regions, steadily advancing the global reach of Chinese original animation and telling the stories of China in the new era to the world.
In addition, the 2024 International Animation & Game Business Conference (iABC), which is the business section of the 20th China International Cartoon & Animation Festival, is scheduled to take place in Hangzhou, China, in late May. During the event, the team also extended on-site invitations to international animation production, distribution, and other related companies, hoping that through this business conference, we can jointly explore the current state and future trends of the animation and gaming industry together with industry organizations from around the world.
